What’s your role at Back Bar USA? Briefly describe your position.
I manage the Accounting department.
What do you enjoy most about working at Back Bar, and what is your favorite part of your position?
The enjoyable part is knowing you’re not just an employee but rather part of a family that truly cares for one another. The challenge that I take on on a daily basis is my favorite part; I get to think outside the box. I could never claim my job is monotonous.
What has been your favorite project and why?
Managing the MGM account is my favorite project because it challenges me intellectually.
What hobbies do you have outside of the office?
I like to read. I like knowing a little bit of everything.
What’s the last book you read?
Coming of Age in Mississippi by Anne Moody.
What are you currently watching on Netflix?
Typewriter and Another Life.
Do you have any pets?
We have two dogs. Bryan is a mixed Maltese/Poodle/Shih-Tzu, he was rescued. Our other one is Sophie, a 4-year-old Yorkie. We got her from a family that couldn’t take care of her anymore.
Bryan is a very lazy dog, he won’t go outside if it’s too hot or if it’s raining. He doesn’t like traveling since he has motion sickness, but he hates being by himself since he has separation anxiety. You can’t really win with him. Sophie, on the other hand, loves traveling but she loves Bryan more than anything so she’s good where ever Bryan is.
What is the best gift you’ve ever given and the best you’ve ever received?
I surprised my wife on her birthday last February. She didn’t know I bought her mom a ticket to visit us from the Philippines, the last time she saw her was in 2015. Pure joy in her face, was the best gift I could ever give. My priceless gift is the watch I got from my mom before she passed away, I still have it 12 years after.
What is something that you couldn’t live without?
Surrounding yourself with good people.
If you could spend a day in someone else’s shoes, who would you choose and why?
Margaret Thatcher, she’s the definition of what a woman should be.
What’s on your bucket list?
Sky diving, bungee jumping, and to get a tattoo.
What is your favorite place you’ve traveled?
What restaurant do you frequent the most? What do you order?
What’s the best concert you’ve attended?
If you got front-row seats to a sporting event, which sport is it and who’s playing?
It’s either basketball or football. Lakers vs. Warriors or Chargers vs. NE.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your 18-year-old self?
Focus on things that matter the most. Chase your dream. Love and live life. Don’t settle for anything less. Most of all, remember that money can be earned, things can be bought – not time, once it’s gone it’s gone, there’s no reset button. Always cherish your family and friends.
