Model Spotlight: Nailya Shakirova
August 22nd, 2019

How long have you been working for Back Bar USA and how did you get your start as a promotional model?

6 years, I started as a promotional model by applying for different casting calls and eventually working with different brands and companies.

What is your favorite part of the job?

I enjoy working with so many different brands and being able to learn more about each of them. Getting to work in different places, and interact with a variety of people keeps it interesting.

What is your favorite event that you have worked as a model for Back Bar USA, and why?

A few years ago I worked a pool promotion at the Golden Nugget Pool during EDC, which was such a fun atmosphere. A ton of people were wearing fun outfits, and costumes – it was a great experience!

If you could give advice to people getting started in the industry, what would you tell them?

Be confident and enjoy yourself.

What other interests or hobbies do you have outside of promotions/modeling?

Dancing, acting, yoga, and traveling.

I am a trained dancer in jazz, ballet, contemporary and hip hop. I’ve trained in both Russia (my home country) and in Las Vegas. I have mainly worked as a backup dancer, go-go dancer, and as a dancer/magician’s assistant. I love to dance as it makes me feel happy!

I also have been acting in Film/TV/commercials for the last 8 years. What I love most about acting is that working on set feels like you get to contribute in creating that movie magic, it’s such a collaborative experience and it’s unlike anything else. You have to get to that place inside of you where you both feel incredibly concentrated and incredibly free at the same time.

Traveling is also my favorite thing to do when I can, because it’s such a mood elevator and helps me learn something new about the world and myself. The next place I’d like to visit is Egypt. I’ve always wanted to see the pyramids!

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?

Purple, because it’s the most mysterious and beautiful.

What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?

In my spare time, I enjoy doing yoga as it makes me feel so relaxed and it also helps to train focus and flexibility. I love snowboarding as well, and have mainly snowboarded in Mt. Charleston and Utah, but would definitely like to snowboard in Aspen next!
